Parent Teacher Conferences and the End of the Trimester At School

It's nearly time for Parent Teacher Conferences in my school district.  My report cards are ready, so all is good!  Now I'm preparing my conversations in my head.  Sometimes, I find myself talking out loud while thinking through a conversation during the Parent Teacher Conference.

HOO is Getting Excited About Thanksgiving?

Yes, I know...It's STILL the end of October....Yet I'm pretty excited about Thanksgiving.  

 

My school has 5 days of vacation marked off for Thanksgiving week.  

The week prior to vacation is Parent Teacher Conferences, which usually leaves me drained and wiped out.  So the week after will be a GREAT time for some rest!

Pumpkin Pie, Turkeys, and Turkey Day

It's just a few more days until NOVEMBER! This school year is running faster than ever before. I love to teach my Kindergarten kids this funny Thanksgiving song, that uses the tune "Oh My Darling Clementine":

Albuquerque is a turkey, And he's feathered and he's fine He's my Albequerque Turkey, tell me what you think of that.

He's the best pet you can get yet, better than a dog or cat, He's my Albequerque Turkey, Tell me what you think of that.

In my experience as a teacher, it seems like the span of time between the start of the school year until the first vacation is a LONG HAUL. So when November is finally here, the holidays and Thanksgiving vacation have been earned by both the teacher and the students!
